An important part of Colombia’s coffee region is found in three departments called Quindio, Risaralda and Caldas. We will immerse ourselves in the wonders of Quindio and Risaralda. This region is found on Colombia’s Central Andean range and is a semi- tropical climate. Vegetation is lush. Every shade of green can be found as the background to a myriad of colors from the hundreds of floral species.
Colombia’s fortune and fame came from its coffee. Here we will sense the roots of Colombian culture and meet some of its friendliest people. We will stay at a colorful coffee “hacienda”, our base, where we will take part in the coffee production process, the best way to learn.
We will also explore a fascinating botanical garden and an experimental farm of bamboo and guadua. We will also see the spectacular valley of Cocora and the groves of wax palm, a site found nowhere else in the world. We will adventure into the cloud forest to search for the many birds and animals that roam there, as well as, float down a river on a bamboo raft. Don’t worry though; we will take some time to eat the fantastic foods found in this region and we will zip through the treetops experiencing the sport of canopying or zip-lining.
